One-mile swim

Swim a mile on the iconic Serpentine lake

The mile is a classic distance in the world of open water swimming! Our one-mile swim covers one full lap of the famous Serpentine lake, which is the same course as the London 2012 Olympic Marathon Swimming event – so you’ll be following in the swim strokes of some of the world’s top open water swimmers.

Please note that the 11:20 mixed wave has sold out. Places are still available in the 13:50 mixed wave and the 08:45 women-only one-mile wave.

Medal and souvenir swim hat for every finisher

All finishers will receive a medal after their swim – no matter what their time and ability – as well as a souvenir swim hat to wear on the day!

Swimmer information

Find all the important information you need to get ready for this year's Swim Serpentine, including details on disability support, swimmer safety, water temperature and age group prizes.

Swimmer safety at Swim Serpentine

Your safety is our number-one priority at Swim Serpentine, so our water safety team will be standing by to assist on the day. The Swim Serpentine course will be clearly marked by large buoys, so you’ll find it easy to make your way around your chosen swim distance.

It’s a good idea to complete your chosen distance in full in a pool before the event, and also to practise swimming in open water beforehand, so you have the best possible experience at Swim Serpentine.
