What's On

There's lots for people of all ages and swimming abilities to enjoy at Swim Serpentine on 16 September – find out more about what's on below...

Swim Safe Sessions

Swim England, the national governing body for swimming in England, and the RNLI, the charity that saves lives at sea, will be offering children the opportunity to take part in a Swim Safe session and learn how to stay safe while swimming outdoors.

Swim Safe provides free outdoor swimming and water safety sessions for children aged between seven and 14. The annual programme is run at numerous locations across the country, but this will be the first time it is held in central London, when the sessions will take place at Swim Serpentine.

The hourly sessions will run from 10:00 at the Serpentine Lido at the following times:

  • 10:00-11:00
  • 11:00-12:00
  • 12:00-13:00
  • 13:30-14:30
  • 14:30-15:30

All pre-booked spaces in these sessions are now full, but a limited number of spaces will still be available on the day for each session, so arrive in good time to avoid disappointment. All equipment will be supplied. To find out more about the sessions visit .

Swim England Showcase

If you can already swim and would like to try a new discipline, come along to Swim England showcase at Swim Serpentine. We love talking about aquatics and will be there to answer questions all day long.

There will be plenty of opportunities on the day to sign up and have a go at one of our sessions listed below - so don’t forget your kit!

You will need to be comfortable swimming out of standing depth for a duration of 30 minutes. Don’t worry if it’s cold, we will make sure you keep moving and stay warm!

Water polo

Come and try your hand at water polo – a fun, social, water-based team sport. We will show you how the game works and introduce you to your local club. You can find out more about water polo on the Swim England Water Polo pages.

Open water swimming

Come and see what it’s like to swim in a lake that is free from chlorine and lane ropes. Coached by Kingston Royals Head Coach Damien Bryan, this session will allow you to try out some new skills or build on the ones you already have. Find out more about open water swimming on the Swim England Masters pages.

Synchronised swimming

Come and watch our synchronised swimming teams in action and then have a go yourselves. You can try out some circus style skills either on land or in the water. Find out more about synchro on the Swim England Synchro pages.
