Swim Serpentine finisher's medal revealed
22 Aug 2016, 1:10 p.m.
All the finishers in the inaugural Swim Serpentine one-mile swim will get a stunning medal to reward them for their efforts.
The medal features a map of the iconic Serpentine lake and will be a wonderful keepsake for those taking part in the mass-participation swim on Saturday 24 September.
Hugh Brasher, Event Director of Swim Serpentine, said: “This is the first ever Swim Serpentine and the medal will be a fabulous souvenir for everyone who takes part. In years to come, they will be able to say ‘I took part in the first Swim Serpentine’ and show people their medal.”
There is still time for people to enter the mass participation one-mile swim.
Entries are open until 17:00 on Thursday 25 August and cost £39.00 per person.
Brasher added: “We are all looking forward to Swim Serpentine. It is going to be a fantastic event, set in an iconic location.
“If you have been inspired by the wonderful achievements of the British Olympians in Rio, why not sign up and come to swim with thousands of others in one of the iconic venues of the London 2012 Games?”
All swimmers in the mass participation mile must wear either a wetsuit or use a tow-float. Both wetsuit and tow-float hire will be available at the Serpentine on the day.
On Sunday 25 September, following the mass participation one-mile event the day before, the British Open Water Swimming Championships will take place with a programme that will include an elite invitation 5km swim. The British Open Water Swimming Championships events will be held over a 3.2km course.
