Children with Cancer UK

Swim Serpentine’s 2019 headline partner is Children with Cancer UK – the UK’s leading national cancer charity dedicated to fighting the injustice of cancer in children and young people.

Over the last 31 years, Children with Cancer UK has been actively raising and investing money for vital specialist research to save the lives of every child with cancer and keep their families together.

Every year, Children with Cancer UK invests heavily in new childhood cancer research, with over £5 million granted last year and more than 60 research projects currently underway at leading UK research centres of excellence. Alongside other organisations, Children with Cancer UK has helped drive childhood cancer survival rates up from 64 per cent in 1990 to a predicted 84% in 2017*.

Children with Cancer UK also supports a number of welfare projects, from helping to fund patient family homes near hospitals across the country to lessen the financial burden on families and to keep them together, to organising family days out for children and young people with cancer and their families to create happy memories away from the hospital ward.

Through funding vital, high quality research, that would otherwise go unfunded, Children with Cancer UK aim to help more children with cancer to ring their end of treatment bell and keep their families together.
