Swim Serpentine has been created by London Marathon Events Ltd, the world’s leading organiser of mass participation sports events.
The London Marathon Events team delivered seven world class mass participation events in 2016 including the Virgin Money London Marathon, the Prudential RideLondon festival of cycling and Swim Serpentine.
Hugh Brasher, Event Director for London Marathon Events, says: “Swim Serpentine has shown the world the very best of open water swimming in the wonderful setting of the Serpentine.
"I’m sure it’s inspired many of the thousands of spectators to try open water swimming.”
London Marathon Events is the acknowledged world leader in maximising revenue for charities through iconic mass participation sports events. Since the London Marathon was founded in 1981, participants in events organised by the company have raised more than £800 million, which has gone directly to the charities of their choosing.
In addition, 100 per cent of the surplus made by London Marathon Events Ltd is handed to The London Marathon Charitable Trust, which then awards grants to recreational projects in London and other areas where London Marathon Events are staged – including London, south Northamptonshire and Surrey.
Since The London Marathon Charitable Trust was founded in 1981, more than £64.5 million has been allocated to more than 1,130 different projects.
